When does my three-year service commitment start? 

Your commitment begins after you complete your education or training program. Students must complete 36 months of service within a 48-month window, and that 48-month window begins when the student graduates. This gives you one year to get licenses and meet your three-year service commitment.  

For example: If you graduate on June 1, 2026, your 48-month service window begins on that date and runs through May 31, 2030. 

Within that period, you must complete 36 months (three years) of employment with an approved Service Commitment Site. 

This means you have up to 12 months after graduation (until June 1, 2027) to get licensed, secure employment, and begin your service — as long as you complete the full 36 months by May 31, 2030.
