Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) work under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or a physician and provide basic patient care. Duties may include taking vital signs and monitoring patients’ health, administering medications, carrying out prescribed medical treatments, supervising nursing aides, observing and reporting patient progress to RNs and physicians, and educating and supporting patients and their families.
Work Environment
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) work in hospitals, clinics, ambulatory care centers, physician practices, long term care facilities, and home health care. LPNs often work shifts allowing for flexibility.
