In Their Own Words is a monthly series featuring insights and feedback from Caring Gene® participants—because the people best equipped to tell the story of the CPT Program are those who’ve lived it.

The following students had their tuition and books covered by the Caring Gene® Program, a healthcare career funding program created to address healthcare workforce shortages throughout New York State.

We asked them all the same question:

What does this opportunity mean to you and your future?

“Growing up, I watched my amazing single mother work two jobs. But even with all her hard work, I wondered why we didn’t have the same things the other kids did. Because of this program, I won’t have that same worry. I’ll be able to provide for my children and give them opportunities and experiences I didn’t get to have.” – Teresa R.
